An autobiography by W. C. Handy. An interesting and authentic account of the early days and emergence of the blues seen through the author's eyes as he was growing up in Alabama. Born in 1876 he later played with many bands, became a composer and song writer. His best known songs were Beale Street Blues and St Louis Blues.
